COASTAL PINE
Devonian Park | Sc'ianew First Nations
The ancient coastal pines of Vancouver Island are truly a sight to behold. These resilient trees can be found atop moss covered glacial rocks, their roots reaching deep into the soil and their needles reaching skyward. The trees are unique to the area and have adapted over the centuries to the often harsh conditions of the area’s delicate Garry Oak ecosystems.
The coastal pines of Vancouver Island are no strangers to weathering the elements. Their majestic trunks are often time-worn by the wind and rain, with their bark weathered and their needles twisted and matted. Despite their age, these trees remain strong and resilient, standing tall against the elements and the passage of time.
